Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal system disorders, particularly those related to the spine.

Chiropractors use a hands-on approach called spinal manipulation and other manual therapies to address pain and improve the overall function of the body.

Why see a Chiropractor?

The central concept in chiropractic care is the belief that proper alignment of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine, allows the body to heal itself decreasing the need for surgery or medication.

Chiropractors often use a technique called spinal adjustment or manipulation, which involves applying a controlled force to a joint to restore its mobility and relieve pain. This adjustment can help alleviate symptoms associated with various conditions, such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, disc or nerve irritation. Alternatively, slower movements called mobilizations can be performed when deemed necessary for the patients care.

Benefits of chiropractic care include:

Pain Relief

Chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate pain in the back, neck, and other areas of the body.

Improved mobility

By improving the alignment of your spine and joints, chiropractic care can help you move more freely and easily.

Enhanced athletic performance

Chiropractic care can help athletes of all levels by improving their flexibility, balance, and range of motion.

Reduced reliance on medication

Many people who receive chiropractic care find they can reduce their reliance on medication for pain management.

Better overall health

Chiropractic care has been shown to improve overall health by boosting the immune system, improving circulation, and reducing stress.

Injury prevention

Some patients chose to see a chiropractor on a regular basis to help maintain the health of their spine so that they can move more freely and prevent injuries before they happen

In addition to spinal manipulation, chiropractors may also incorporate other treatments and therapies into their practice, such as muscle release, cupping, acupuncture,  rehabilitative exercises, nutritional counselling, and lifestyle modifications. They typically take a holistic approach to patient care, considering the patient’s overall health and well-being in addition to the specific condition being treated.

It’s important to note that while chiropractic care is considered an alternative or complementary medicine, chiropractors undergo extensive training and education to obtain their professional degree. Doctors of chiropractic are trained to do an exam and diagnose your condition. If you are injured at work, referrals aren’t necessary to see one of our chiropractors. They can help you start your Workplace NL claim and guide you back to work.

Chiropractors receive extensive training in reading diagnostic imaging such as x-ray, CT and MRI. Most chiropractors have ordering privileges at your local hospital.

If you’re considering chiropractic treatment, it’s advisable to consult with a qualified chiropractor and discuss your specific condition and treatment options.
