Valisha Keough

Valisha Keough is a Registered Nurse offering holistic health and wellness services in Central NL.  She is passionate about assisting/working with people who are ready to feel empowered and learn skills that will help create healthy and balanced behaviours in all areas/aspects of their lives.

Most of Valisha's nursing experience has been related to heart health; from the Cardiac ICU to Public Health programs for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and heart failure. She really enjoys helping people understand health prevention and management while providing skills/tools that can directly positively impact day to day activities/living/lifestyle.

Valisha has her own private Nursing practice that is supported and recognized by the College of Registered Nurses NL. One thing that makes her unique is that she is the only professional providing the complementary therapy called Rolfing Structural Integration.  This therapy is named after Dr. Ida Rolf , who founded this fascia work approximately 60 years ago. Rolfing is a therapy that is quite popular in the States, Europe, Brazil, Japan and areas of Canada and she has now brought to Newfoundland.

Rolfing Structural Integration is a method and process of working with fascia to reshape, realign and balance the whole body. Rolfing potentially resolving discomfort, reducing compensation patterns and alleviating pain. This systemic approach aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. The main idea of this work rests on Dr. Rolf’s insight that the body is more at ease and functions most effectively when its structure is balanced in gravity.

Athletes, dancers, children, business professionals, and people from all walks of life have benefited from Rolfing SI. People seek Rolfing SI as a way to ease pain and chronic stress, as well as improve performance in their professional and daily activities.

Research has demonstrated that Rolfing SI creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. Research also shows that Rolfing SI significantly reduces chronic stress and changes in the body structure. For example, a study showed that Rolfing SI significantly reduced the spinal curvature of subjects with lordosis (sway back); it also showed that Rolfing SI enhances neurological functioning.
